Sex Workers and Allies Network (SWAN)

Sex Workers & Allies Network is a harm reduction organization based in New Haven, Connecticut. SWAN stands for decriminalization of sex work, abolition of the unjust criminal system, and dignity for all.

SWAN is a program of the CT Harm Reduction Alliance.

Outreach

Harm reduction means meeting people where they are. Our street outreach team distributes supplies and connects folks to services.

Advocacy

SWAN advocates for the full decriminalization of sex work and for policies that address the root causes of poverty and marginalization. We believe in “nothing about us without us.”

Programming

SWAN offers programs for current and former sex workers to gather in community. These include leadership programs, group therapy, focus groups, and more.

In these years, I have been trusted to become a SWAN member myself, despite my mental health issues and being homeless. I have spoken on panels about my life, become an outreach worker and an advocate for harm reduction. I have grown as a person, seeing my self esteem soaring, and realizing I am a strong, valuable member of society.
